Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Bookish Wishes | Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. Every Tuesday the book community comes together to create a top ten list on a particular topic and we blog hop around and comment on each other’s posts.

This week we’re talking about the top ten books on our wishlists, or the top ten books we’re thinking of buying soon. I personally keep an Amazon wishlist of books that catch my eye, and I add to it a couple of times a week. I tend to search my local library catalogue first to see if the book is available, and if it isn’t I go ahead and add it to the wishlist. It’s really useful for keeping an eye out for deals.

My Top Ten Bookish Wishes

Gearbreakers by Zoe Hana Mikuta

Why do I want this book? My first reason is that I love the cover. Secondly, it’s about two girls fighting on opposing sides of a war and then falling for each other. the reviews describe this one as stunning, and I want to know why!

Of Women and Salt by Gabriela Garcia

Why do I want this book? I’ve had my eye on this one since it came out last year but unfortunately I haven’t prioritised it yet. This is about a woman trying to understand her past and her heritage as she travels to Cuba. It sounds slightly devastating, but luckily I enjoy a good cry.

Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy

Why do I want this book? For one, my friend Angela keeps talking about it and she makes it sound really good. More specifically, this is cli-fi, which is a genre I’ve been exploring more and more lately. I’m planning on incorporating some sort of cli-fi feature into my blog in the near future, and this sounds like a book I want to promote.

Deliliah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake

Why do I want this book? I’ve loved books by Ashley Herring Blake in the past – most notably Girl Made of Stars – so I’m excited to read her first adult romcom! I’m expecting great things from this one.

Daughter of Sparta by Claire M. Andrews

Why do I want this book? I loooove reading books about ancient history and I’m thrilled that Greek mythology has been making a comeback in YA in recent years. All praise Madeline Miller! I remember back when I first started blogging in 2010, it was becoming quite a trend, and then it sort of just fizzled out. But now it’s back and I couldn’t be more excited!

The River At Night by Erica Ferencik

Why do I want this book? I really love survival stories, and this one sounds absolutely thrilling. It’s about some friends who get into a rafting accident and have to try to survive. I’m really hyped for this one! There’s a similar book called The River that I also added to my wishlist because I want to do a reading vlog for my Booktube channel where I read them and compare them.

The Library At Mount Char by Scott Hawkins

Why do I want this book? I don’t know! I’ve seen people talking about this on Booktube and they keep saying it’s best to know absolutely nothing before going into it. So I actually have no idea what the plot is about or what the characters are like, or even what to expect from this book. But that’s very intriguing!

Fireborne by Rosaria Munda

Why do I want this book? Apparently this one deserves more hype, or so my bookish friends say. I really want to get stuck into a great new series, and I think this one sounds quite good. There are dragons. I also think it would be a really great change to recap this one for Recaptains!

The Ninth Rain by Jen Williams

Why do I want this book? This is another Angela book. She marathoned this series a few months ago and that’s when it caught my eye. From the vibes, I think this is something I’d really enjoy, and like I said above I really want to get stuck into some more series soon.

The Simple Wild by K A Tucker

Why do I want this book? Sometimes you just want some chill contemporary romance set in the wilderness, ya know?
